Basic Training Elementary

This course focuses on the body alignment, musicality and technique in Chinese classical dance. The class consists two sections – the barre and the centre. The barre is about muscle control while the centre is about the development of technical skills. Besides dance combinations, there are also jump combinations and ‘fanshen’ technique or turns around a horizontal axis. Suitable for beginners or students who are interested in Chinese Dance.
Target: suitable for beginners and students who are interested in Chinese dance.

Selections of specially designed short combinations are introduced to help students to understand how movements are connected. Fluidity and expression of the body are also the focuses.

Chinese Folk Dance Introductory

This course will primarily focus on group collaboration. By learning and practicing dances from various ethnic groups, students can develop an understanding of Chinese Folk Dance. They can also possess the ability to comprehend its distinctive style and rhythm.

Tutor

Graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Chinese Dance); Dancer of Hong Kong Dance Company (1991-2009)

Fish from Changchun, China. Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and majoring in Chinese dance.

She rewarded with the Chinese Dance Faculty Scholarship during her study.

Fish is an experienced dancer. She joined Hong Kong Disneyland as a theater dancer since 2008; performed in “The Festival of The Lion King”, “The Golden Mickeys”, “Mickey and The Wondrous Book”, and many large-scale Disney shows. Moreover, she is actively participated in different dance performances, including 2008 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony (HKDC), “Qingming Riverside”(HKDC), “Feng Shui” (2008), Hong Kong Fringe Festival “Wishbone Backbone” (2013), “Circl II” (2014), “The Lotus Tale” (2014), “Ladies of the Red Chamber” (2018), “Endless Thread” (2020), “To Pass On” (2022).

Natalie graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree, major in Chinese Dance. During her study, she was awarded The Spring Time Stage Productions Scholarship and twice-awarded Disney Scholarship.She was the representative of HKAPA to perform in Italy and Taiwan .

Natalie has been a full-time dancer with the City Contemporary Dance Company since 2014 to 2020.She has worked with a number of emerging choreographers and arts organisations and has performed in a wide range of dance performances in Hong Kong. Her new work “Wandering Stone” premiered at 2016 Dancers’ Homework by CCDC. In 2017 The Hong Kong Dance Award nominated her for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer” with her performance in “Travelogue”.

With experience of being a professional dancer in many years.Natalie understands the sensation of getting injuries.Luckily, she met yoga in 2018, she finds it is a new way to heal her body pain. Practicing yoga helps her to reconnect with herself bothmentally and physically, she determined to share and help those who also suffer in different injuries

Natalie is now actively involved in dance teaching and related work. She is also a 200 hours Yoga Teacher (RYT®) with Yoga Alliance and Certified Flyoga® Teacher. She is now studying 300YTT in yoga therapy.
