In view of the spread of the school suspension due to Covid-19, the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) has specially launched the Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Literacy and Learning Project online learning resource to introduce students to contemporary dance in a fun way.This online resource was sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to support the Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Literacy and Learning Project. This learning resource includes four episodes of short videos. Each episode is carefully crafted with its own theme and content, and is about 15 minutes in length. Moreover, the supplementary teaching resources “Teachers’ Pack” including teaching PowerPoints for teachers and worksheets for students, are also provided for further education.

The first two episodes will follow a dancer’s perspective and learn the origins and characteristics of contemporary dance in a light and humorous narrative. In the third and fourth episodes, dancers share the ups and downs of their own journeys in art, how they connect dance to life, hence letting the students feel the spiritual power of art.

This series let students experience extra-curricular activities in a brand-new way at home. Teachers can easily share the resources with students through the school intranet without downloading additional applications. As such, we hope to strengthen students’ physical and mental well-being in adversity, and help them live every day to the fullest.
