City Contemporary Dance Company

 

City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) is a well-established, non-profit making performing arts company and one of Hong Kong’s leading cultural institutions. We are seeking candidates interested in a rewarding career in our newly launched school arts education project for the following positions:

 

ASSISTANT ARTISTIC DIRECTOR (EDUCATION) - Three-year Contract

 

The Assistant Artistic Director (Education) reports to the Artistic Director and Assistant Artistic Director to conceive, develop, and implement an outreach performance, workshop and dance appreciation pedagogy which fulfills the goals and objectives of the project.

 

Job duties:

l   To assist Artistic Director in hiring, supervising and evaluating teaching artists.

l   To develop, implement, and evaluate outreach performances and workshops pedagogy with Artistic Director, Assistant Artistic Director, Managing Director and Director of Dance Centre.

l   To act as moderator of the outreach performance.

l   Prepare teaching kit and resource pack for teachers and students.

l   Conducting Company Class to teaching artists.

l   To fosters the development of positive relations with schools by participating in meetings with schoolmasters and teachers where appropriate.

l   To report the Artistic Director and Director of Dance Centre on a regular basis to give an update on performance, workshop and rehearsal schedules.

l   Any other duties as assigned by the Artistic Director.

 

Qualifications and Qualities Required:

l   At least 5 years relevant experience in dance with strength in choreography and education.

l   University level qualification(s) or equivalent in dance. 

l   Sound knowledge of dance history and theories, particularly in contemporary dance.

l   Leadership, vision, and passion for arts education.

l   Strong network of primary and secondary schools.

l   Strong interpersonal, organizational and management skills.

l   Excellent oral Cantonese, English, Mandarin and written communication skills
